Istanbul seaside: From Kozyatagi to Marmara and back…

Istanbul known also as Byzantium and Constantinople, is the most populous urban area in Turkey accommodating between 15 and 17 million inhabitants. It is a transcontinental city separating Europe and Asia and looming over the Bosphorus strait from the Black Sea down to the Sea of Marmara.

Istanbul ranks between 5th and 8th in the chart of world’s most visited cities, being a hotspot for travellers due to its cultural and historic heritage. The most famed landmarks are located on the European part of the Turkish metropola, however, the Anatolian side has plenty of attractions to reveal as well.

The trekking routes in Istanbul are somehow limited due to the heavy car traffic. A walk from the proximity of Kozyatagi metro station to the shore of the Marmara Sea, takes about 35 minutes. Strolling along Toktaş Sokak, Hilmi Paşa Sokak or Ayşeçavuş Caddesi turns out to be pretty relaxing as there are plenty of fancy restaurants and terraces along the route to the seaside. By the way, “sokak” in turkish language means “street”.
